The Institute for Labor Studies partners with the Rhode Island Department of Administration Office of Training and Development to co-sponsor incentive credit courses for state employees.

Some information regarding incentive credit eligibility information, registration, and payment information follows. For complete information, please connect to the Office of Training and Development website or the Institute for Labor Studies website. Continue to check those websites for updated general information and for new course information. Or you may call the Office of Training and Development at 401-222-2178.

Please note that the Institute for Labor Studies only processes payment for OTD courses. Contact the OTD office for questions relating to seating availability and incentive credit requirements.

Payment and Registration:

  1. Personal checks should be made out to Institute for Labor Studies & Research (ILSR) and mailed, with registration form, to Office of Training and Development, RI Department of Administration, One Capitol Hill, Providence, RI 02908.

  2. To pay by credit card:
    1. Call the Institute for Labor Studies (463-9900) and provide them with your credit card information. Be sure to tell them which course you are paying for. The Institute will then notify the Office of Training and Development that you have paid for the course.

    2. You must still register for the course with Office of Training and Development, by sending or faxing your registration to OTD.

  3. If a RI State Agency is paying, only a Direct Pay Order (DPO) will be accepted. The original DPO should be processed per normal. A signed copy of the DPO, and your registration form, must be sent to OTD to reserve a seat in the course you want.

  4. A registration form must accompany your payment. Registration forms are available from the OTD website.

  5. NOTE: Registration or CS365 forms received without payment will not reserve a seat in the class.

  6. The courses listed on the following pages of this catalogue are designed for and offered to employees of the State of Rhode Island.

Incentive Credit:
For state employees interested in incentive credit, all rules regarding each employee’s eligibility will apply. For example, the course must be directly related to the employee’s job duties, and be the appropriate level for those duties. CS365 forms requesting incentive approval must be received by OTD seven (7) days prior to the start of the course. Each course must be at least fifteen (15) hours. If you do not receive verification from OTD that your incentive credit request has been approved, it is your responsibility to check the status of your request, and insure that OTD receives it.
